Kuwait Embarks on a New Academic Year with Comprehensive Preparations
KUWAIT CITY– As the 2025–2026 academic year commences, educational institutions across Kuwait are undertaking extensive preparations at all levels. The Ministry of Education has affirmed its commitment to providing a fully integrated educational environment designed to foster academic excellence and discipline, with a sharp focus on enhancing the quality of education for students, teachers, and the system as a whole.
The state continues to uphold its dedication to providing free and compulsory education, as mandated by Law No. (11) of 1965. This law initially covered education from primary through intermediate levels and was later expanded to include secondary and university education, underscoring Kuwait's long-standing investment in human capital.
University Level: A Focus on Readiness
At the university level, Kuwait University is set to welcome a total of 43,843 students on Sunday, including 6,596 new freshmen distributed across its 15 colleges. The university administration has confirmed its full readiness for the new year, ensuring that all buildings, laboratories, lecture halls, and parking facilities are prepared to facilitate a successful and organized educational process within a safe and secure environment.
Primary Level: A Welcoming Start for Young Learners
In primary schools, the morning saw a joyful and welcoming atmosphere as institutions opened their doors to first-grade students. Classrooms and hallways were adorned with vibrant colors and drawings to create an engaging environment for the newcomers. School administrations organized orientation programs and entertaining activities aimed at helping new students integrate smoothly and build their confidence on this significant first day of their educational journey.
The academic year for the remaining grades is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, while kindergarten classes will commence on Wednesday.
